On the 13th of May, Asia Data Destruction (ADD), which is part of our Confluences Ventures, participated as an exhibitor in the Waste Summit 2023 held at Factory Phnom Penh. The participation of ADD at the Waste Summit was made possible through the opportunity granted by Ms. Monika NUON, Program Manager at Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Cambodia.
The 2023 edition of the Waste Summit aimed to initiate and encourage dialogue on its main theme: the importance of waste separation. The ADD team raised awareness on the challenges of e-waste separation, which is the starting point of reaping the benefits of e-waste recycling.
By the end of the event, more than 50kg of IT waste was collected by ADD through its e-waste collection program and thanks to the participation of the booth visitors who deposited their e-waste. These items will either be given a second life, or properly recycled instead of ending up at a landfill.
ADD wanted to bring attention to the value of disposed IT equipment and e-waste. Through their 15 years of experience in Southeast Asia, ADD has been an advocate for promoting e-waste as not just a social and sustainability issue, but it can actually be a viable economic business model as well. Additionally, it will contribute to the development of a formal recycling industry.
Over the final week of May, the ADD team welcomed Mr. Laurent LANDIE, the Chief Strategy Officer of Asia Data Destruction to Cambodia. They worked on several strategic partnerships, met important stakeholders, as well as new potential partners and government Ministries.
