Phnom Penh, Cambodia – September 2024 — Confluences Access has signed two important strategic partnerships this month, expanding its sector knowledge and reaching new market segments. These partnerships improve Confluences' ability to provide complete market access services while attracting new investments to Cambodia.

Partnership with JS First

The first partnership is with JS First, a Malaysian-funded advisory firm with an office and team in Cambodia. JS First works with several large Malaysian companies and SMEs, helping them invest in Cambodia. As part of this work, Confluences Access will conduct multiple feasibility and market studies for JS First's clients, with more projects expected soon.

Kit FOO CHYE, Founder and Director of JS First, said, "JS First has been handling the financial aspects of these projects, but we needed a partner like Confluences Access to provide the operational approach required to validate our business assumptions and help move these projects toward implementation. Their deep understanding of the Cambodian market has been instrumental in this process. While one of our core expertise is mining, at this moment our first projects are in other sectors. Cambodia has now progressed to be a very investable country, especially in the food security areas."

Currently, Confluences Access is working on two projects under this partnership. While the details of these projects are confidential, they are expected to have a significant impact on Cambodia's economy, with plans moving forward as early as 2025.

Partnership with Advalogis

The second partnership is with two consultants, Megan Benger and James Crafter, founders of Advalogis, a Vietnam-based consulting company specializing in logistics and supply chain. This partnership allows Confluences Access to use their expertise for any consulting projects related to logistics and supply chain, while Advalogis will use Confluences' market access services for projects in Cambodia.

Megan BENGER commented, "We found in Confluences Access the perfect partner, one that knows the key stakeholders across both the private and public sectors in Cambodia. Their ability to gather critical operational insights about the market is invaluable to our ongoing feasibility study."

Together, the teams are currently conducting a comprehensive feasibility study, which could lead to significant third-party investment in Cambodia's logistics infrastructure. The study, set to last four to five months, could have a major impact on improving the country's logistics capabilities.

The Value of Partnerships for Confluences Access

These two partnerships not only add valuable sector expertise to Confluences' portfolio through Advalogis, but also provide access to Malaysian investors and new opportunities in the financial and investment sectors through JS First, expanding into a market that had not previously been a main focus. Cambodia has now progressed to be a very investable country especially in the food security areas.

Dara N. Van, recently promoted to Access Manager at Confluences, emphasized, "Market access is at the core of what we do at Confluences. Even with nine years of experience, we remain open to new partnerships as they help us strengthen our capabilities and attract more investors to Cambodia. We believe foreign investments in infrastructure and industries are critical to Cambodia's future growth, and these partnerships are a step in that direction."

Confluences continues to play an important role in Cambodia's economy. While not sector-specific experts, the firm excels in its understanding of the Cambodian market. "When needed, we have the ability to partner with other specialized firms for the greater benefit of our clients and, ultimately, Cambodia as a destination for investment," Dara concluded.
