Malongo's Return to Siem Reap: Building a Coffee Community in Cambodia

October 4, 2024

Siem Reap, Cambodia – September 2024 — Malongo, the French organic coffee brand, has returned to Siem Reap with a new plan to grow in Cambodia. This comeback started with the "Malongotini Night," held on Friday, September 20th, at the Infusion Bar. About 100 guests enjoyed premium coffee, cocktails, and met other coffee lovers.

Malongo's Growing Presence in Cambodia

Since Confluences started distributing Malongo in Cambodia, the brand has grown. The Phnom Penh team now has 2 salespeople, 1 administrator, and 3 delivery staff, serving over 100 clients, including 16 hotels, and 25 bars and restaurants. In Siem Reap, Malongo coffee is in top places like Viroth and FCC. While Siem Reap has fewer clients now, more tourists expected for the high season give Malongo a chance to grow in the city.

Sebastien RODRIGUEZ, Business Development Manager for Malongo in Cambodia, said, "We think now is the right time to grow Malongo in Siem Reap. Tourism looks good, and we believe hotel owners and restaurants will like Malongo's high-quality, sustainable coffee from different places. We're excited about the success of Malongotini Night and plan to bring this concept to Phnom Penh and Kampot soon."

Malongotini Night: A Night of Coffee, Cocktails, and Connection

"Malongotini Night" showed off Malongo's different high-quality coffees. Guests tried coffee cocktails, like the Espresso Martini, made with Malongo's tasty blends. People also tasted coffee from Italy, Colombia, Brazil, and Laos. Malongo offers nine types of coffee in Cambodia, for different tastes.

Chris VARIN, Confluences' Siem Reap Branch Manager, who helped organize the event, added, "It was great to see so many people come for a night of coffee and meeting others. This event showed Malongo's coffee quality and how important it is to build a community as we grow in Siem Reap. Malongo offers consistent taste, with options for all preferences, making it great for high-end tourist spots. We hope to have many more events like this across Cambodia."

Ly, the owner of Infusion Bar, shared his thoughts on the event and partnership: "The energy and excitement were great. Our guests really enjoyed exploring Malongo's diverse coffee selection and innovative cocktails. This event has shown the potential for coffee-centered experiences in Siem Reap. We're looking forward to hosting more events like this and working closely with Malongo. Together, we can create unique experiences that appeal to both locals and tourists, contributing to Siem Reap's vibrant food and beverage scene."

A Strategic Focus on Siem Reap

As Siem Reap aims for quality tourism, Malongo wants to be in more hotels and restaurants. The brand's different coffee types, including fair-trade options, fit with the city's focus on sustainable, high-quality tourism. Malongo's coffee machines work well for hotel room service and big restaurants, giving consistent flavor and easy use, matching what Siem Reap's tourism industry wants.

Looking Ahead: More to Come

With events like "Malongotini Night" and plans to grow, Malongo is set to become stronger in Cambodia's coffee scene. The brand's focus on sustainability, quality, and community fits with what consumers and businesses want. As Malongo grows, expect more events and chances to try their premium coffee in new ways across Cambodia.
